CASS Honors Survivors During Domestic Violence Awareness Month

Domestic violence is a public health crisis hiding in plain sight, affecting people of every background, regardless of wealth, race, or color. An estimated four in five women and one in nine men across the U.S. experience some form of domestic violence in their lifetimes. With many barriers to reporting, cases continue to remain hidden and underreported, but public health experts estimate about 10 million victims are affected each year.

As we near the end of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, it is important to raise awareness, provide education, and support organizations dedicated to the safety, healing, and empowerment of these victims.

We’re proud to count the Irvine-based Crime Survivors Resource Center among our CASS members. Crime Survivors works tirelessly alongside law enforcement, the judicial system, and the broader community to help victims “recover mentally, physically, emotionally, and financially.” Crime Survivors’ reach is extensive, having distributed over 500,000 resource guides, nearly 10,000 emergency kits, more than 4,000 backpacks filled with school supplies, and upwards of 5,000 meal baskets for survivors and their families.

Crime Survivors is a steadfast ally, an invaluable part of CASS’s mission, and a critical resource for those who have been affected by domestic violence. As we uplift this critical issue during Domestic Violence Awareness Month, CASS reaffirms its commitment to stand with all those impacted by domestic violence, now and always.
